not so easy sunday

the old adage that "life is like a roller coaster" with its up, downs, and twisty path would best describe my life right now. our family has been dealing with a lot for quite awhile. my mother in law is 92 and refuses to admit she has any health problems that would require her to move in with us or an assisted living home.  my parents are also up in years. although my mom seems to be doing well, my dad is not. he was exposed to agent orange and has medical problems galore. in the last month he has been to the emergency room twice and admitted to the hospital both times. my husband and i are both "only children". so this has really put our normal schedules into over drive.

as i type this post, yuki is on my desk with my arms encircling her. she is giving up her long fight against bad kidneys. she has been giving us hints this past week that she was almost ready for her trip across the bridge. yesterday i knew it would be in the next day or two. she hardly ate, she was having problems with balance, and she wanted to sleep next to kintaro. kintaro was a gentleman and let her have all of his favorite blanket she wanted. it was bittersweet as i knew in my heart what was coming.

my heart is breaking as i spend this time with her. please say a prayer for my old girl. i would like her trip over the bridge to be one she can look forward to. all of my kittys that came before waiting for her on the other side. especially cheebie, yuki loved him, he was her protector.

yuki, i will have a bag of fishy flakes in my pocket just for you when we meet at the bridge.

  9. I know so well the sadness that comes with having to say goodbye but it is the best gift we can give our failing felines. I lost my Patches over a year ago and it finally is getting easier but she will always reside in my heart. I think I let her go to long thinking that somehow she would get better. Blessings from the Big Piney Woods

  11. I lost the founding member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde, Christopher T Cat, to kidney problems at the age of 16. Our hearts, purrs and prayers are with you as Yuki prepares to cross the Bridge and wait for you with Cheebie. I know that the many memories of love will help heal the grief of loss. May her journey be gentle.

  12. My heart aches for you and your Yuki, but as you could tell, she is ready for her adventures at the Bridge.
That piece of your heart will always be hers.
I believe there is no sense of time at The Bridge, as there is here on Earth. Time is what is so wearing and painful for us all here.
I pray the Lord gives you strength, day to day with your parents, and may you feel your heart actually lighten as you say "So long, for now" to your beautiful Yuki.

    Blessings,

  44. While her time here in her physical body will be over, she will still be with you in spirit. Your memories and your time together will become sweet again once the pain of the loss eases.

No matter how well you think you are prepared, it will probably feel like a bit of your heart and soul is ripped out, but you will be stronger for the pain

    May her transition be peaceful.

  60. Sorry it's been so long since we left a comment (even though we visit, we runs out of time to compose our thoughts). But we wanted to let you know we are thinking of you at this saddest of times and know how much your heart is aching.

May this poem help ease your heart...Teri said it has comforted her...

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
    To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
    Soon, replied the whiskered angel
    But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
    That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

    Eventually they will understand,
    Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Ps: We also wanted to thank you for supporting Coco's Auction (we remember you helped Brighton out when he was sick, too!).
