kimiko update

kimiko did well on the ride up to and back from the vet. she acted like she was an old pro at the vet's office. she walked around and talked to me and the vet tech. kimiko did mutter something unladylike when the vet was palpitating her abdomen.

the vet checked her over and spent almost an hour talking to me about her before he made his recommendation to have an ultrasound, endoscopy and biopsy done. we went with having everything done so we could rule out what wasn't happening. he does agree w/ our regular vet that it is either IBD or a type of cancer that thickens the walls of the intestines.either one will cause her to not be able to get the nutrients from her food when she does eat. he also said the ultrasound showed her pancreas was a little bit enlarged but that could be due to what is causing her to lose weight. now we have to wait for the results of the biopsy. they are sending the tissue samples to cornell. he also upped the dosage on the prednisone she is taking and change the frequency back to everyday. next comes the hard part - waiting for those test results.

kimiko came out of the anesthesia very well. she was so impatient to have me come pick her up and take her home that she tore a chunk of skin off of her head by rubbing on the cage door. they called me as soon as they spotted what she had done and told me to come pick her up. they felt that she would do better with me than being there. as soon as i got there they put me in one of the rooms and they brought her right away. kimiko tried to jump out of the vet techs arms to get to me. she just purred and purred. i guess she missed me a lot. i might have been gone a total of 3 hours. she wasn't in a hurry to get in her carrier either and wandered around the bench i was sitting on while the vet spoke with me. i swear this wasn't the same cat that has lived with me for 13 years. the same cat that i have to practically dump out of her carrier when we go to our regular vet. lol

i will post some photos of kimiko later. she is not being too cooperative when it comes to posing for the camera right now.
