kimiko update

kimiko is not doing any better. sometimes she seems so weak, other times she seems to be holding her own. she did not greet me at the door yesterday. she did come to my room this morning. she acted like she was hungry but she barely ate. she is not eating as well as she was. i had to do a lot of coaxing to get her to eat last night. i even used a syringe to feed her some yogurt. this morning i fed her by dipping my finger in the yogurt and letting her lick it off. it still was not much. i have seen her nibbling on dry kitty food. maybe she is getting just enough in her tummy. i have also been adding benefiber to her food. it seems to be helping some.

i spoke w/ the vet yesterday. i have to call him today to let him know whether or not i want to do the ultrasound and biopsy. he is more concerned about her going thru the procedures than the trip up there. i have concerns about both. i want to know what is going on inside her body but at the same time i know the odds that it is something that can be cured (vs something that we can only make her comfortable) are slim. my head and heart are fighting and they both hurt.

i am tired and i think i am getting sick. they shut down one of the nearby private school for the rest of the week b/c of flu & strep throat. one of our project manager's kids go to that school. his kids have been home since last week. i sure hope he did not bring those germs to the office.

i may have come up with a way to pay for the procedure(s). i realized late last night that i have a care credit card that includes being used at participating veterinarians offices. i just have to find out if that specialist accepts the card. that is my project for today besides the squillion other things i need to do.

please keep purring and purraying for my girl kimiko.

  10. Sending lots of love to you and Kimiko..and plenty of prayers too. We use slippery elm bark powder for a kitty that has bowel issues and it helps soothe the intestines. Mom just mixes it in our food.

  11. Sending lots and lots of purrs to Kimiko and you! Those carecredit cards are very handy in these situations. Several of our local vets accept them. Hopefully, yours will too.

  12. We are still sending many rumbly purrs for dear Kimiko and you. We hope the ultrasound is useful and some way can be found to help her.

There's a very high calorie paste food called Hills AD which vets sell which is very good for syringe feeding. It slips down a treat and you can water it down too.
