RE: your comment about campaigns and petitions, I was just checking out the HSUS site, and there are lots of legislative bills currently needing support and you can click on a number of items to download letters, action alerts, etc. It's very easy to look up your own State Senators and Legislators via the HSUS website and send them your petitions directly. Also, there are a number of states that have laws needing support at the state level, so you can check out whether your state currently has anything needing your support. Whether the laws are at the national or the state level, the support needs to come from individuals living within that state.
