monday monday

i took kimiko to the vet to be weighed last friday. she has lost another .6 lbs. her current weight is 6lbs. she is so tiny (as in skinny). our vet wants really wants to send her to the specialist out of town. he is now saying we should try an ultrasound instead of the endoscopy. he palpated her abdomen and said it felt like her bowels had thickened. i told him i would have to see what i could do as far as finances. maybe they will let me make payments. something for me to check on tomorrow. so until then, we are treating her with amoxicil since he feels she may have a build up of nasty bacteria in her digestive tract with all that has went on so far. i am thinking about adding some plain yogurt to her diet when she is finished w/ her antibiotics. i am sprinkling a little benefiber over her food to see if that will help firm her stools. she is also still taking prednisone every other day. her tummy makes lots of funny sounds all of the time. her appetite is not improving, at least not yet. i hope it does soon. our vet is concerned she will get fatty liver disease.

sometimes she looks so sad. she does not want any of the other kitties near her - she even growls at them. funny thing tho, she actually was laying almost on top of yuki last night. i even got photos of this as they never get too close to one another. kimiko is almost always near me now - she almost always has be able to at least see me. please keep purraying for her.

i would also like to thank everyone that has kept kimiko in their purrayers, has sent purrs her way and/or has been able to contribute towards her vet fund. it is so appreciated. regardless of the outcome it is and will always be comforting to know there have been so many who cared.

  2. Add the yogurt now, don't wait and look into some pro-biotics to help her digestion. Also, try buying chicken livers. Boil them and then blend them into a little pate' using a tiny bit of the water you cooked them not the whole pot of water.

You can also give her a little bit of chicken broth or thinned yogurt with a syringe. Just insert it into the corner of her cheek so she won't choke. Squeeze the syringe a little at a time watching for her to swallow each time.

Keeping her close to my ♥.

  4. We are still purring very hard for Kikimo. Mirtazapine helped Cal with his appetite and the vet also gave us Purina Fortiflora probiotics to his food.

  5. thank you for all of the great suggestions. i will be going to the grocery store this evening after work. i will be calling the vet this afternoon to let him know how kimiko is doing and ask him about some of the suggestions.

kimiko was in a good mood this morning and was hungry. she ate about a 1/2 oz of wet food this morning and a few bites of dry food also. she was alert and purring. i am hoping this is a good sign of things to come.

  8. Yes, our vet also said that taking the yogurt at the same time she is on the antibiotic would be good. I'm glad to hear Kimiko was perkier this morning. She is in my thoughts and purrs.

  9. Ah, sweet kimiko, purrs and prayers still going up for you. Was glad to hear you ate a little this morning. When Patches wasn't eating very good the Vet told mom to force feed her. Mom used some kind of cat food she bought from the Vet and Gourmet Chicken Feast, (Fancy Feast) Mom put a little water until it would go in a syringe without clogging to much, when Patches started to eat better her BM improved also. Only thing is Patches was constipated but Kimiko is the other way around. Our Vet takes payments, thank the good Lord. Mom is still paying off Gizmo and she is thankful she had an ultrasound done on him. It helped her to make up her mind, and also after questioning the vet like crazy. God bless Shirley and Kimiko
