fortunate friday

the photo on the left was taken december 2008 and the one on the right was taken this month.

THANK YOU! to all of the cat bloggers that have come by and checked on kimiko. we appreciate your purrs and purrayers for her. someone suggested we put a donation button on our blog so those that wish to help with the vet bills can do so. please do not feel obligated to give.

kimiko has cut back on her eating again. she is eating about 2 ounces of wet/canned food a day. i can hear her tummy gurgling all of the time. we have also determined it is her that has had some really nasty poops. we suspected it may have been her but we caught her leaving the box right after a particulary nasty episode. so i will be calling to the vet to see what we can do to help her. i still do not feel getting the endoscopy is the route to take at this time. i am scared she will get too stressed in her weakened state and i will lose her when they do the procedure.

kimiko still purrs when i pet her, she still wants to cuddle with me in my chair and she still greets me when i come home. kimiko is 13 years young and is the kitty that is the closest to my heart. it may sound selfish but i am not ready for her to go to the bridge. please keep purring and purraying for my girl.

PS from mom Nora - have you researched adding some fiber to Kimiko's diet? That can sometimes help with GI issues.

  5. Hugs and purrs from all of us...it doesn't sound like Kimiko is ready to leave, either. While 13 is not old-old, she's Not a young cat; I agree with your view of stressful tests with limited results.

Remember to take care of Yourself, too, my dear. With hugs and purrs--Meepsie, Smokey and Mumma Jan

  7. Poor Kimiko! I can see she really has lost some weight. But her eyes still look bright and alert. And I do not think 13 is that old, she could still have many happy years ahead. I am purring and purring for Kimiko.

  9. Thanks for visiting our Chica and sending get well wishes - we are doing the same for little Kimiko. I had luck adding powdered slippery elm bark to my Minnie's food to help her IBS. Also a good choice of protein for kitties like her is called Sea Cure - it is powdered fish for humans in capsules - made to help people who are malnourised and have trouble digesting food. You can find it online - just sprinkle on the food and mix in. My vet uses it for cats that have digestive problems.
