stinky poll

i have just returned from reading the results of the dry food poll at mrs. b and bubbles blog. one of the comments made stated stinky goodness made stinky boxes. so this poll is to find out what type of litter your felines prefer and how well it works.

first list brand (first step, tidy scoop, ect. . .) and type (clay, paper, crystals, ect...).
second list how effective on a scale of 1-10. 1 is "momma clean this box now or i use the plant" and 10 is "where the heck did momma hide the box at now?"

  1. We use Tidy Cats, the clukping kind for multiple cats. I will say honestly it needs to be cleaned more often.

  2. Scoop-Away, Multicat Formula. 8/10
I'm pretty happy with this litter. The cats like it, it clumps well. I have never had problems with cats doing their "business" outside the litterbox. It does have a slight tendency to stick to the cats feet, so I have to vacuum around the litterbox about once a week.
I've used those crystals (can't remember the name) before and allthough it smelled good, the cats did not like it, and it does not clump, so was messy to clean.

  3. We use the 'zact same fing as grr, midnight and cocoa. we gives it an 8, mostly 'acause Miles refuses to cover the stinkies in the middle of the night.

  4. We use Special Kitty wal-mart brand, it's the clumping kind. It works pretty good seeing there is 5 of us. We will give it a 8 out of ten. mIt only is stinky if someone doesn't cover there duty up.

  5. Petco clumping brand. Mum is furry good about cleaning the stuff out of the box every day. Plus washing the box itself at least once a month. Two boxes, so she can switch one one for the other. I rate mine a 9.

  6. We use Feline Pine. Mum likes it 'cuz when she cleans the box it's not heavy. It smells pretty good, too. We give it an 8. Mum scoops it several times a day as needed.

  7. Fresh Step Scoopable Clumping. We have a box about the size of a cement mixing trough, and though this stuff is heavy, it works. We scoop twice a day. I would give it an 8, and the kids are VERY(knock on wood)good about only using the box!

  8. We reely liked SWheat Scoop, but then Dad had to gif up all wheat products (Glutin-free diet - Celiac Disease in the family) so Mom tried the bulk stuff from a local cat store. It's either Premium Choice or Ever Clean. Swheat Scoop worked well, but we sumtimes had yellow clumps in our paws or on the floor. The bulk litter is clumpin clay and werks about as well as Mom could want. BTW, MOM, when you check the brand, the box needs... attention.

There was a furry good article at About Cats that rated litter an talked bout clumpin clay or ofur kinds. Pros, cons, results wif the host's cats. Best advice, tho, is not to change cuz we Cats don't like it.

  9. yuki & kimiko have just recently started using the feline pine clumping. i now have no litter box odor. even after the "run fast so the smell of stinky doesn't catch you" happens. it clumps pretty good and doesn't track as bad as some of the other scoopables. it probably would clump better if one of my girls didn't have a bladder the size of a cantalope. LOL i also like how easy it is to carry. lightweight. i have 2 boxes for 2 cats. i rate the feline pine stuff a 9 (only b/c it does track a little)

  10. Momma uses Litter Purrfect that she gets from Costco. It's the clumping kind. We haff 2 big boxes for 4 kitties and Momma cleans it 3 times a day so it don't smell too bad. Bebe sumtimes doesn't cover what he did cuz he scratches efurrything BUT the litter so I haf to do it fur him. It'z real easy to make it fly all offur but Momma yells at me when I do that.

  11. Petco brand clumping kind. Daddy cleans it once or twice a day depending on how much we go. Doesn't smell too bad but the stuff gets ofur the floor a lot.

  12. Special Kitty Wal Mart Brand for us too. The clumping type is the only way to go. If Momma doesn't scoop it, I just won't cover!

  13. Emma and her housemates use the PetsMart brand, Exquisicat I think it's called. And it gets a 8. It clumps well but tends to sometimes be a little dusty. I used EverClean (I think that's what it was. Expensive.) and I loved it, but I decided to go the cheaper route and put up w/the dust.
